Our Story
Amos Wood Moulding & Millwork makes wood available to live with. Detailed design, fine material, precision knives, accurate cutting, and prompt timing all go into our work. We manufacture exterior siding, lovely and long lasting decking, wall and ceiling cover in any species of wood depending on the desired outcome, trim and mouldings to continue giving the feel that was intended with the design of the house, flooring to suit, stair parts that evoke grace and value, countertops made just so, and signature furnishings that are all unique. All of this adding value and warmth that only wood can.
Owners Jeff and Obe Amos, father and son, took over what is now Amos Wood Moulding & Millwork in 2008. Jeff brings his experience of wood, since 1976, as one-of-a-kind furnituremaker, house designer/builder, and commercial retail designer/builder. He is also a much collected fine art photographer. Much of being a photographer is about design ~ design of the image possible from the scene in front of the camera. This design capability is part of what is available at Amos Wood Moulding & Millwork.
Obe was brought up in his father's shop and ingested enough wood that it is in his bones. Not only does he bring straight, square and sharp to the shop floor as production manager, but he too brings experience in house construction. This means that what gets made can be used as it was intended.
The parent company, Logs to Lumber Co. Ltd., started just as described, with a band saw and some logs in 1991 at 944 Hwy 325, Blockhouse on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. The company evolved over the years. The product range is considerably broader now. We manufacture exterior siding, trim and architectural mouldings, inside flooring in hard and soft woods, wall and ceiling covering, mouldings and trim to finish out, stair treads and parts, custom countertops, and unique furniture.
Our 3850 sq.ft. plant near Mahone Bay now has a 5-head 9" moulder, a 6-head 12" moulder, profile grinder to produce custom knives, straight-line saw, glue clamp system, drum sander, shaper, chip and dust collections system, and assorted support tools. On site we also have our own kilns for finish drying green stock. There are 5 on staff.
